02 Jun 2010 - Bitburger Open

Im here in Sarrbrucken Germany at the Bitburger Open which is rated Grand Prix on the European Tour. This tournament is a long established tournament and is one that many of the best players from around the world like to come and play.

Following on from my good run to semi final at last weeks Czech International I was hoping to play well here and at a much higher standard. I got off to a great start yesterday and won both my first and second round matches.

In the first round I played Andeas Lindner from Germany and even though I started a bit slow I soon found my grove and won the match 21-9 21-4. I was very happy with that performance but knew it was only the first round. In the second round I knew I would be tested much harder buy a very dangerous Indonesian who plays for Austria called Ardiansyah Putra. This guy is known to have a good all round game and has beaten many top players in the past. I was ready for the match and I came out of the blocks like a sprinter and cruised to the first set win 21-13. In the second I continued to dominate and control the set from start to finish to win 21-8. In the second I won the last 8 points in a row which was really leasing.

In all I feel I am playing well this last few weeks and Im really enjoying my badminton. Today I have to step up another gear against Ville Lang from Finland who is a top European player and has beaten many top world players in the past. This will be equally as difficult as my semi final last week given this is a Grand Prix event. But I feel I have my game with me and my confidence is high and on top of that I know I can win so lets see what happens later.

You can follow the game live on www.tournamentsoftware.com and the Bitburger website normally have live feeds without commentary from the courts if you want to check that out.

All the Best
